CIRCLE is a transnational cooperation project exchanging experiences in circular economy and environmental-friendly solutions. The project aims to stimulate implementations of circular solutions in small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas.
Facing climate challenges with every possible solution creating improvement for the environment. We need to be better at utilizing our resources and reduce waste, as well as locally increase self-sufficiency to reduce our vulnerability.
Enterprises play a crucial role in the global transition to sustainable development. Circular economy offers interesting business development opportunities. At the same time, for smaller enterprises, it might be challenging to find the solutions on their own.
The project partners have agreed to arrange one programme in each country with visits to enterprises, farms and organisations implementing circular economy or innovative environmental-friendly solutions. First visit will be held in Sweden during spring 2020. The second visit will be organized in autumn 2020 in Luxembourg. The visit to Finland is to be held spring 2021. Detailed programme will be planned during the project.
What is circular economy?
Circular economy is a concept for an economic business model on reducing waste and returning it in the process to form a cycle (unlike the traditional linear model).
In the Ellen McArthur Foundation definition circular economy is based on three principles:
- Design out waste and pollution
- Keep products and materials in use
- Regenerate natural systems
